The following was taken from the LDS pedigree Resource CD 34, Pin 813617:
On 1-27-1774, John bought a tract of 226 acres known as Reading in Beth el Twp. from the heirs of his wife's father. Elizabeth predeceased Joh n. Orphans Court of Lebanon Co. in the January Term of 1820.
Among the pioneer families who settled the lovely Hegins or Lykens Valley
in Schuylkill County were the Holdemans. Not only were they early settler s,
but they helped found the Evangelical Association in the valley. Bishop
Johannes Seybert, as early as 1827, visited Lykens Valley and held meeting s
at the home of John Holdeman.
Since southwestern Schuylkill County were settled about 1790, one
has to look in the older PA counties to trace the earlier history
of the families common to the Lykens Valley. The pioneer Holdeman to come
north of the Blue Mountain was John Holdeman, who may have been the son of
John Holdeman of Bethel Twp., Lebanon Co., Pa., who died in 1819.
John Holdeman, the eldest son of the said decedent, petitioned the Orphans
Court of Lebanon County in the January Term, 1820, for the sale of his
